Barack Obama has said some memorable things both during his time in the White House and after. And saying that women should be in charge of every government at the end of last month might just be up there with some of his most talked-about remarks!
The former POTUS made the comment on September 21st during a conversation with presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin about American politics, leadership, and the need to elevate younger generations.
The father-of-two said that he had thought about this many times during his time in the White House, revealing that he had “sometimes fantasized” about what would happen if women temporarily took control of governments around the world. Keep reading to find out more…

Barack Obama Says He ‘Sometimes Fantasized’ About Women Being In Charge Of Every Government
During the conversation, Obama said: “If you put women in charge of every government for like two years and then just kind of saw, all right, how are things going? I have a strong belief that things would – they wouldn’t be perfect, but they’d be better.” The comment was met with huge applause from the audience, and he then added: “I’m confident about that.”
This isn’t the first time Obama has expressed a similar sentiment. Back in 2019, while speaking at a private leadership event in Singapore, he said he was “absolutely confident” that if every nation were run by women for two years, “you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything… living standards and outcomes.”
On the other hand, President Donald Trump doesn’t seem to share Obama’s view. He was asked about his thoughts on Obama’s comments outside the White House on Saturday, September 26th, and he made it clear that he disagreed.
The reporter asked: “Mr President, Obama just said if you put women in charge of every government for 2 years, things would be better. Do you buy that?”
“It’s ridiculous,” Trump responded. “I love women. I think they’re great, but what a ridiculous statement that is, right? Even you would say that,” he added.

Many people on social media were full of praise for Obama's comments, with several saying how much they missed having him in the White House.
