Anne Hathaway Faces Backlash For Pregnancy

Hathaway and her husband, Adam Shulman, have been married for nearly 14 years and already share two children together, Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6. Generally speaking, Hathaway keeps her family life very private, but with all of her upcoming movies—The Odyssey coming out later this month, Verity in the fall–and their consequent press tours, she couldn't exactly hide a bump for much longer!

Unfortunately, critics have already come out of the woodwork to call out Hathaway for getting pregnant at age 43. Pregnancies after the age of 35 are referred to geriatric pregnancies or advanced maternal age pregnancies because there are higher statistical risks for certain complications. However, many people in their late 30s and 40s have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. That hasn't stopped social media users from calling her out for willingly having a "risky" pregnancy.

Social Media Reactions

Fortunately, thousands of fans across the world have come to the Devil Wears Prada actress's defense, willing critics to leave her alone. "If you are healthy, still fertile, have the resources, and feel it in your heart and soul that you want to have a baby at 40...then have that baby," one person wrote on Instagram. "Don't listen to people!"

"Babies at any age are a blessing!" another user wrote. "Crazy that people found something to be mad about."

"If she's healthy and wants to have a baby, it's her business," added another.

"Being 40 isn’t a reason to not have children," said the next. "She wants to have another child and I’m sure that child will be loved."

"She is not too old," agreed another. "Why do people are?"

"People need to mind their own business!" a final user wrote.
