The Maria star has reportedly been considering a move abroad for years, with the actress previously suggesting that she would have more freedom to leave California once her youngest children turned 18. Now that all six of her children are adults, she is said to be preparing to establish a home base in Europe while pursuing additional filmmaking opportunities there.
Her plans come after she made headlines for expressing her changing feelings about the U.S. While attending the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain last year, she spoke about her concerns regarding the country's current climate, stating that she "did not recognize" America.
According to a new report from RadarOnline, however, Jolie's children are reportedly planning to remain in the U.S. rather than relocate to Europe with their mother. Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne are said to prefer staying in Los Angeles, while Maddox, Pax and Zahara reportedly have their sights set on the East Coast.
"The hard part is that most of her kids will not be coming with her," a source revealed to the above publication, who added that the actress was facing "heartache."

Although the Oscar-nominee is said to be supportive of her children building independent lives, the idea of living across the ocean from them is reportedly bringing up difficult emotions.
According to the report, she is happy that her children are pursuing their own paths, but adjusting to having them spread across different locations could be challenging.
"Angelina is happy that they're making their own lives and she will of course come back to the States to visit them," the above source continued. "But it's still going to be a huge adjustment. She's very emotional about it...Angie is serious about creating a base in Europe, and making films over there too. People in England and France love her, and they show up when she's in a movie."
The news didn't come long after the humanitarian sold her longtime Los Angeles estate, the former Cecil B. DeMille property, for a reported $24.75 million. With the sale marking a major change for the actress, her reported plans to spend more time in Europe could signal the beginning of a significant new phase in her life.
