Burger King customers are calling out shrinkflation again after one Reddit user noticed what appeared to be a change in the size of the chain’s sauce packets. This added fire to the flame for consumers who are already unhappy about having to pay extra for certain condiments, with some questioning whether they’re now getting less sauce for their money.
The complaint is part of a larger conversation about shrinkflation, a phenomenon in which companies reduce the size or quantity of a product without lowering its price accordingly. The issue has caused complaints from customers across grocery stores and restaurants. Now, Burger King sauce packets have become the latest subject of online scrutiny.

Burger King Customers Notice Shrinkflation In Sauce Packets
In a post shared to the r/shrinkflation subreddit, one customer highlighted what they believed was a change in Burger King’s sauce packaging. “I was counting Burger King calories and noticed this shrink,” they noted alongside a photo of Zesty Sauce. “Used to be 1 ounce and we’re down to .89.”
Another commenter called out the chain’s particularly sneaky move: “The fact that someone had to be counting calories to even catch this tells you exactly how small .11oz is, and that’s exactly why they do it.”
The complaint is especially frustrating for customers who already have to pay for extra sauce at some locations. When a condiment costs more or is no longer complimentary, a smaller size can make the purchase feel like an even worse deal.
“I wouldn’t care what size the free sauce cups are … Oh wait, we have to pay for sauce now,” another Redditor wrote.

Shrinkflation is common in the grocery industry, where products such as snacks, cereal and household essentials may gradually get smaller. According to the U.S. Government Accountability Office, product downsizing can increase the per-unit price of goods and make it harder for shoppers to recognize when they're getting less for their money.
Sauce might seem like a minor part of a meal, but for customers who rely on it to complement their fries, nuggets or burgers, getting less than expected is clearly irritating.
