The October 2nd episode of Saturday Night Live was a rather controversial one: comedian Shane Gillis made a joke about women’s gym clothes that immediately sparked a wave of backlash. “I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t realize women just dressed like w***** now,” Gillis said during his monologue. “And don’t look!” he continued. “You’re not allowed to look,” he said. “For real, don’t look because they are filming. I’m in the background of like 10 TikToks right now.”

The monologue went viral on social media, with users all over the country calling the comedian out for his misogynistic joke. However, the situation had a second wave in the news cycle when a screenshot of SNL’s Instagram clip of the monologue showed Travis Kelce as one of the “likes” on the post.

Social Media Reactions

Across social media platforms, many users were appalled to see that Kelce had liked the controversial post, whether it was an accident or not. "Someone from the NFL standing with misogyny?" one person wrote on Instagram. "Shocking..."

"He's the same guy that never said anything when his entire football stadium was booing Taylor," another person wrote. "He never speaks up."

"Why is anyone surprised?" asked another.

"He's a white man from Ohio this shocks exactly no one," agreed the next.

"He has 4 nieces," pointed out another. "Donna would be disappointed."

"Disappointing," said a final user. "Hopefully it was an honest mistake."
