Shania Twain and Zedd teamed up for a high-energy remix of Twain’s 1997 hit “You’re Still the One” in September, but some fans were more focused on the music video’s heavily computerized visuals than the new version of the beloved song.

The electronic reimagining was created as part of the Candy Crush Saga Music Season 2026 campaign, giving Twain’s classic love song a colorful, futuristic makeover.

For the collaboration, the 61-year-old embraced the Candy Crush-inspired aesthetic in a striking baby-pink ensemble featuring dramatic fringe details and matching rhinestone-covered chaps. The custom look was designed by bcompleted and ZIGMAN, while additional candy-inspired accessories and appliqué details helped complete the colorful “Candy Country” aesthetic.

The remix combines Twain’s instantly recognizable vocals with Zedd’s signature dance-pop and electro-house production, transforming the country-pop classic into an upbeat dance track.

The accompanying music video takes viewers into a playful Western-inspired “Candy Country,” complete with glittering, pastel landscapes, eye-catching unicorns, and animated singing cacti.

While the fantastical setting was clearly designed to match the Candy Crush theme, some fans questioned the video’s apparent use of artificial intelligence and computer-generated imagery, saying the visuals looked overly artificial.

“So we’re doing official music videos with AI now?” one fan asked on Instagram.

“AI? Disappointing,” another wrote.

“Not the generative AI use,” someone else commented.

“You people can’t do anything without AI and it’s so sad,” another person said.

“Just gave me the biggest ick, why are you using AI,” one critic added.

Others simply complained about the amount of computer-generated imagery, with one person writing, “Too much AI.”

“Easily identifiable as AI btw, they didn't even try,” another commenter claimed.

However, not everyone was bothered by the visual effects. Some fans defended the creative direction and argued that the technology was used effectively to create the fantastical world.

“People hating on it for being AI… nevermind the fact it’s actually tastefully done and she looks great. What if the exact video was remade by hand would you all like it then?” one supporter wrote.

Another commenter argued that AI and CGI are both forms of computer-generated imagery, writing, “...both are computer generated and a person has to put inputs into a computer to get results.”

Despite the mixed reactions to the visuals, the collaboration gives Twain’s longtime fans a new way to hear one of her most recognizable songs, while bringing her signature style into Zedd’s dance-pop world.
