Tom Brady Was Reportedly 'Stung' By Gisele Bündchen's Pregnancy
The new claim comes from Lars Anderson's recently-released biography, Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, which delves into the seven-time Super Bowl champ's life on and off the field, and reveals several new details about his marriage and divorce.
"According to a friend of Brady's, he was absolutely 'stung' that she had become pregnant roughly two years after their divorce," Anderson wrote, referring to the former couple's October 2022 divorce, which came after 13 years of marriage.
Anderson's claim appears to echo reports that emerged around the time Bündchen's pregnancy was first revealed. According to an insider at the time, Brady was "stunned" when he heard the news, telling Page Six: "Tom knew that things were serious between Gisele and Joaquim but he never imagined they would be having a child together." They added: "It just wasn't something that was on his radar. So when Gisele broke the news to him, he was stunned, to say the least."
Another insider similarly told the Daily Mail: "Finding out Gisele was pregnant stung." The insider continued at the time: "There's not a lot of people who see the Tom behind closed doors, but those that do could see he was upset. It was a hard pill to swallow. It was never something he ever thought was going to happen."
Tom Brady's Cryptic Social Media Posts Resurface
While insiders claimed at the time that Brady was blindsided by the pregnancy, he never publicly commented on the news himself. He did, however, share some cryptic posts on social media around the time, which Anderson addresses in the new book.
After news of Bündchen and Valente's pregnancy broke, the NFL broadcaster shared a sunset photo alongside lyrics from the song "Landslide." The lyrics included: "Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? / Can the child within my heart rise above? / Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?"
Anderson also points to another cryptic post Brady shared less than 24 hours after Bündchen welcomed her son in February 2025. The post included a quote about love, beauty, friendship, and being interested in others. "More than a few people with close ties to Brady believed they knew exactly what this was: a coded commentary on how he felt at the end of the marriage," Anderson wrote in his book.
Then, just over a month after Bündchen gave birth to her son with Valente, Brady shared a photo of himself throwing a football at UCLA's practice facility, captioned "True Love." Anderson noted that this was "the verbatim phrase Gisele had repeatedly used to describe Brady's relationship with football."
According to Anderson, people close to Brady didn't see the timing as a coincidence, with one friend reportedly describing the post as "the softest middle finger."
