And it seems like some of that criticism is now coming from a little closer to home, as the Argo actor revealed that his own kids mock him when he tries to give them relationship advice. The Gone Girl actor married the 13 Going on 30 actress in 2005, and they went on to welcome three children: Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14. The former couple separated in 2015, and their divorce was finalized in 2018.
He later married the Shotgun Wedding actress in 2022, although she filed for divorce in 2024 and their divorce was finalized in January 2025. And it seems like his relationship history has given his kids plenty of ammunition when he attempts to offer some words of wisdom at the dinner table.
"I'll kind of launch into something at the dinner table, and now I catch them giving each other looks. And I realize I'm the caricature in this story where I see them being like, 'Ugh, Dad is saying this,'" the Air actor recalled.
"They'll talk about their friends and the drama and the relationships, and I have some lived experience, so I think that's worth sharing," he continued, adding: "And the 17-year-old just turns to me and goes, 'Oh, like you're the expert on relationships.'" Affleck made light of his relationship history, which went down well with fans. And his appearance on the show in general also got people talking, with many viewers commenting on how happy and relaxed he seemed.
Some even compared his appearance and demeanor to how they felt he looked while he was married to the Office Romance star, with fans previously suggesting that he often appeared "miserable" during their relationship.
"Ben looks so [expletive] happy. Glowing. Love this for him!" exclaimed one fan on YouTube. "He looks so good and happy," echoed a second, as a third concurred: "Oh my gosh, this is the best I've ever seen Ben. He seems so comfy, happy and open. I LOVE this for him!"
