Rita Wilson has sparked plenty of reactions online after debuting what appears to be a massive cross tattoo on her back that closely resembles one of her son Chet Hanks’ tattoos.
Last week, the 69-year-old took to Instagram to share a photo showing the large design covering much of her back. The image was part of a carousel promoting her latest song, “Stranger With Age,” which explores getting older and embracing the changes that come with it.
“STRANGER WITH AGE? Who? Me? I’m lovin’ it! Who else is stranger with age? STRANGER WITH AGE song is out everywhere,” Wilson captioned the post.

The apparent matching tattoo connection came to light earlier this year. On May 7, Chet, 36, shared a video on Instagram showing a large tattoo that appeared strikingly similar to the one seen on his mother.
However, it remains unclear whether Wilson’s tattoo is permanent or when the photo was actually taken, leaving some social media users questioning the unexpected mother-son matching moment.
“That’s just weird,” one person commented.
“The only question I have is—WHY?” another wrote.
“Umm, that’s weird. The only thing I wanna match with my sons is our surname,” a third person said.
“Sorry! Do not like it,” another user added.
“This cannot be real,” someone else commented.
“Ridiculous,” another person wrote, while someone else called the idea “kind of ridiculous.”

Rita Wilson’s Health Journey
Wilson shares two sons, Chet and Truman, with husband Tom Hanks. The couple has been married since 1988.
In 2015, Wilson was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a bilateral mastectomy followed by reconstructive surgery.
She has since spoken openly about how the experience changed her relationship with her body and inspired her to explore those emotions through music, including her song “Whose Body Is This?”
“These parts of your body that had been there for you in such a beautiful way were gone,” she told People. “I’m very grateful that there are things nowadays in modern medicine like reconstruction and implants.”
“In my mom’s generation, if you had breast cancer, that was it,” she continued. “There was nothing. You were left with sort of a shadow.”
