The unexpected pairing of Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau has once again sent social media into a frenzy, this time after the singer and former Canadian prime minister were spotted dancing together in a hardware store. The two appeared to be having plenty of fun as they sang and danced along to music by Trudeau’s son, Xav.

While some fans couldn’t get enough of the playful moment, others were left cringing at the unusual clip, with some users even questioning whether Xav’s music would be getting the same attention without his famous father. Keep reading for more information.

Katy Perry & Justin Trudeau Post Dancing Video To His Son’s Music

The video in question, posted on Xav’s Instagram page, starts out with an up-close shot of a speaker hanging on the wall of a hardware store before the person holding the camera, revealed to be Katy, pans to Justin Trudeau, who’s holding a set of shower caddies and a toilet plunger. The former prime minister, dressed casually in a pair of blue jeans and a plain white t-shirt, dances around the aisle to Xav’s song, singing along and gesturing with the toilet plunger.

Perry gets into the song too, eventually flipping the camera around to show her nodding her head and jumping along to the song’s catchy beat. She matched Trudeau in her own casual outfit, and both kept their sunglasses on for the video.

Social Media Reactions

While some fans thought the couple’s dancing video was “cute” and showed that they have “good chemistry,” others thought the clip was rather “cringe” and called out Xav for being a “nepo baby.”

“This is so cringe I can’t look away,” one user wrote in the comment section.

“Justin Trudeau dancing with a toilet plunger was NOT on my 2026 bingo card,” wrote another.

“Katy and Justin really said let’s make this weird,” wrote a fourth person.

“This is giving middle-aged parents trying to be cool,” another comment reads.

“Nepo baby starter pack: famous parents and celebrity friends,” wrote another.

“Embarrassing!” a final user wrote.
