Vanessa Hudgens made a rare red carpet appearance Thursday night at the HollyShorts Film Festival, held at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.
For the event, the High School Musical actress wore a white sleeveless satin slip dress from L’Agence featuring a scoop neckline and black lining. She accessorized the look with a delicate silver necklace, bracelet and earrings, along with a silver metallic manicure and shimmery gold pedicure.
For glam, the singer wore her hair in soft curls cascading down her back, styled with a voluminous side part. Her makeup featured heavy mascara, lined eyes and a brown lip.

Hudgens, who recently became a mother of two, quickly caught fans’ attention with her red carpet appearance. However, some social media users felt that the combination of the dress, dramatic makeup and voluminous hair didn't flatter her.
“She’s so pretty, but that makeup is just too much: cakey, orange, heavy eyeliner…it’s giving stage makeup but not in a good way. I wonder what the stylist was thinking when they picked that dress, seriously, I want to know,” one person wrote on Reddit.
Another commented, “Her contour is off. Her natural facial definition is so nice. She looks very effortlessly radiant with her cheekbones, the contour detracts.”
“Not only is she wearing...that, with those shoes, but what even is this event. Whole look and vibe is a whole mess!” another critic wrote.
Another said, “She doesn’t look comfortable in the dress and it’s doing nothing for [her] great figure, the shoes are odd, the makeup is heavy. It’s not offensively bad but I don’t get it. If she was going for something that felt easy and comfortable I’d expect a lower heel or platform.”
Others were more complimentary, with one person joking, “This looks like she’s wearing a nightgown. It looks comfortable though!”
Another wrote, “She’s a doll. I hate those shoes with that gown, though.” And while another person felt “the makeup is a little harsh” and thought the color combination resembled a swimsuit, they added, “I love the hair.”

Beyond the red carpet, the 37-year-old has been busy with family life and recently joked that she’s officially experiencing the “terrible twos” with her children.
The Spring Breakers alum shares two young children with her husband, professional baseball player Cole Tucker. Although the couple has yet to publicly reveal their children’s names, Tucker shared in January that they have a son and a daughter.
“Terrible twos in full swing over here,” Hudgens wrote over a photo of herself giving a thumbs-up on Instagram Stories. “SO much fun.”
Hudgens and Tucker married in Tulum, Mexico, in December 2023 after first being linked in November 2020.
