Women Are Swapping Their Boring Water For This Ice Pop Electrolyte Mix!

My mom was the trailblazer in our family who first started wearing Athleta.

A few years ago, she began prioritizing her wellness, and her wardrobe needed to catch up. She wanted clothes that could move with her and felt as good as they looked—and Athleta was the obvious answer. Around the same time, during COVID, I got back into running myself (I was a former high school track and cross countery runner and needed a reason to get outside). Gradually, Mom started gifting me some of her favorite Athleta pieces until I had a little collection of my own. These days, I’m a mom myself, so my training time has been cut in half (sad), but my on-the-go lifestyle means still has me gravitating towards my Athleta tops and bottoms as much as ever.

It’s fitting, honestly, since Athleta’s whole thing has always been about supporting women through movement, whatever that looks like for you—and in my case, it’s mostly chasing around a 3-year-old. Beyond basic activewear, their clothes work incredibly hard for you, no matter what your day throws at you.

That philosophy is all over Athleta’s newest August collections. The Wilder Run Collection takes high-performance apparel and gives it a trendy twist with pleating, made from their popular Featherweight Stretch Fabric. Then there’s The Texture Shop, which applies that same thoughtful design to everyday basics, so think soft, ribbed textures, and tactile details.

Here are the pieces from Athleta’s August collections that I’m loving (and you will too).

The Wilder Run Collection

Plissé Run Short ($69)

The whole Wilder Run collection gives performance apparel a trend-forward twist, which I love. For example, the Plissé Run Short is made from a featherweight plissé fabric that feels silky and impossibly light, complete with delicate pleat details. The hybrid waistband also uses a buttery-soft Powervita fabric that moves with you instead of digging in mid-run, plus a back drop-in pocket for your key or gel packet essentials. Having literally run with keys in my hand, I know how essential this last one is!

And the shorts are also super practical: they’re quick-drying, wrinkle-resistant, and rated UPF 40+ for extra protection on sunny runs.

Invigorate Ribbed Bra A-C ($49)

Given I’m short on time these days, I’m often trying to squeeze in high-intensity workouts, or anything that has me moving and sweating a lot in a short window of time. That makes the Invigorate Ribbed Bra pretty much perfect. It’s built for these types of workouts, and made from weightless PowerMove fabric with quick-drying properties so I’m not stuck in sweaty gear for hours.

Plus, the medium-impact support (ideal if you’re an A-C cup) will hold up through a HIIT class and the removable pads actually hold their shape after wash.

Run Club Ribbed Short ($75)

As much as I’d love to always be running on a nice, flat sidewalk or treadmill, I’m often dealing with uneven terrain or whatever route I can piece together in 20 minutes. I need my shorts to keep up no matter what surface I end up on, which is why I like the look of these.

Athleta’s Run Club Ribbed Short is made to take your pace anywhere, from sidewalks to trailheads, without missing a beat. It’s made with the same sleek, weightless PowerMove fabric as the rest of the collection, so it stays cool and dries fast no matter how sweaty you get. It looks seriously flattering, too!

Plissé Jacket ($159)

This jacket is the outerwear version of the Plissé Run Short, made from the same featherweight, silky-sleek fabric and featuring those delicate pleat details—just built for whatever layer you need over everything else.

It’s light as air, so it’s not going to weigh you down mid-run, but the high neck adds real coverage and warmth for chilly runs. What I really love, though, is how versatile it is. It’s chic enough to throw on over a dress, or over a tank and jeans, so it’s truly more than just a run layer.

Plissé Skort ($79)

If you want the same featherweight, pleated fabric as the rest of the collection but in a slightly dressier silhouette, this skort is the move. It’s light as air, and made with Powervita fabric that moves with you. There’s also a built-in bike short underneath, so you get coverage and function without sacrificing the look!

And again, I love how it doesn’t just read as “athletic” the second you take it out of a workout context. You can wear it with a simple tee and sneakers and it’ll look just as great as it does on an actual run.

The Texture Shop

Moment Plissé Dress ($135)

Now, onto The Texture Shop, which is all about soft, tactile textures that make your basics feel a little more fun. And maybe my fave piece from the whole collection is this Moment Plissé Dress!

I love it so much because it doesn’t look like activewear at all. It reads as a chic, effortless dress that you’d wear somewhere nice and get compliments on. But underneath that, it’s actually doing a ton of hardworking things for you, from the super-comfy plissé fabric, to the quick-drying performance, and UPF 40+ protection for adventuring days. If there was ever a dress that’s super pretty and seriously functional at the same time, it’s this one!

Plissé Tank ($85)

What’s not to love about the Plissé Tank? With its silky fabric and pleat detailing, it’s like your all-purpose tank. You can layer it under a jacket on cooler mornings, pair it with the Plissé Skort for a matching moment, or throw it on with jeans on a random Tuesday. It’s quick-drying too, so it holds up whether you’re working out in it or just going about a regular day.

Perfect Rib Boatneck Tee ($59)

I wish this tee was sitting in my closet right now, because I’d be wearing it. It’s got an ultra-soft rib texture with stretch, so it’s super flattering, and the boatneck cut is elevated without feeling stiff. It’s perfect for work, meetings, weekend errands, meeting up with friends, you name it! It also pairs well with literally any bottoms in your closet (skirts, shorts, jeans, leggings, etc.).

Because it’s so versatile, it’s a smart buy that ends up doing way more work than a $59 price tag would suggest.

My mom passed down her love of Athleta for a reason: the brand just gets it. Whatever your day actually looks like, these new pieces are built to keep up with you!
