President Donald Trump has openly expressed his distaste towards the new Obama Presidential Center, and now, the team behind it is ready to welcome him for a tour.
After the president shared various posts on his social media platform, Truth Social, bashing the new center, the Obama Foundation CEO, Valerie Jarrett, is responding by offering him a tour. During one of her media previews of the center last month, the former Senior Advisor of the 44th president encouraged Trump to “judge for himself” the quality of the space, which he previously called a “disaster,” prior to its star-studded opening events. Donald Trump Calls The Obama Presidential Center 'A Disaster' And More On Social Media
The current 80-year-old president has made it quite clear that he is not on good terms with, nor does he have any affection for, his first term's predecessors, Barack and Michelle Obama.
Aside from criticizing and making harsh comments about the former leader's politics, policies, and the decisions he made while in office, President Trump has also caused a lot of controversy with his more offensive remarks and posts regarding the famous couple.
In the midst of his online posts and tirades, he's taken jabs at the Obama Presidential Center, the museum, library, and recreational space built by the Obama Foundation in Chicago's South Side neighborhood. The sprawling center began construction in 2021, finally opening its doors with a celebratory ceremony on June 19th of this year.
On his social media platform of choice, Truth Social, the Apprentice star has shared numerous posts with his thoughts on the center, calling it "a total disaster" for its delayed timeline on February 22nd of this year.
Three months later, on May 30th, he shared an AI-generated image of a metal trash can with a trash bag in it in the center's place, labeling it, "The Obama Presidential Center."
Obama Foundation CEO Valerie Jarrett Invites Trump To The Presidential Center
The Obama family has been continually celebrating and promoting the opening of their center since it opened one month ago, with their foundation writing that it will provide the Chicago community and visitors with "a place for gathering, learning, creativity, and community" for all ages on their website.
The current president's jabs and insults have, however, reached the attention of the team leading the Obama Presidential Center, including the former Senior Advisor to Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, who currently serves as the Obama Foundation's CEO. On June 3rd, 2026, she gave a media preview of the center, where she was asked by USA Today to address the former NYC real estate mogul's criticisms.
"Judge for yourself," she responded. "When our visitors come, they will see a spectacular campus...If [Trump] would like to come and visit it himself, we would welcome him and give him a tour."
President Trump has yet to respond to Jarrett's invite; however, if he ever chooses to accept, she seems more than ready to welcome him in.
