Bill Gates’ daughter, 23-year-old Phoebe Gates, is being accused of fraud after a Bloomberg investigation revealed her AI fashion company Phia was faking sales through its browser extension. The startup, which she co-founded with entrepreneur Sophia Kianni in 2025, was allegedly incorrectly attributing affiliate commissions to Phia, jacking up their reported sales despite playing no role in the actual sale. Now, users on social media are branding Phoebe as a “fraud,” calling her “entitled” and a “nepo baby,” referencing her father’s extensive resources. Keep reading for more information.

Phoebe Gates' Company Phia Accused Of Fraud

Phia, an AI-powered shopping platform, has a mission of helping shoppers find the best price for fashion products by comparing listings across thousands of retailers through a browser extension. The company has received millions in funding, both from venture capital firms as well as some high-profile celebrities, including Sydney Sweeney, Paris Hilton, Jessica Alba, Karlie Kloss, and Mindy Kaling. However, these investors may be regretting forking over the cash now that the company's being investigated for fraud.

Earlier this month, a Bloomberg investigation alleged that the browser extension was attributing affiliate commissions to Phia, despite Phia having not been involved in the sale. Essentially, while a shopper checked out, Phia would override referral codes from other affiliates and insert its own, consequently taking credit for the sale and potentially receiving commission on the purchase.

Phia representatives quickly responded to the allegations, telling Bloomberg, "Within the last 24 hours, we were made aware that in a recent release our codebase was causing misattributions from a subset of users. As soon as we were notified, our team worked overnight to identify, mitigate, and has since resolved the issue."

Social Media Reactions

Despite Phia's quick response, users across social media platform lashed out at Phoebe Gates, slamming her for both her company's attempt at fraud as well as her privilege. "From an affiliate marketing industry standpoint, Phia is over," one person wrote on Reddit. "They will never be reapproved for ad networks again. But it doesn't really matter if the company fails or not because Gates' daughter has a billionaire safety net and this is more of just a vanity project to boost her own ego."

"Baby girl this is fraud," another user agreed. "If you were an everyday person without the bubble of billionaire safety, then yes, you'd be over. But for them...justice remains far and fleeting."

"Dishonesty seems to be running in the family...shocking," another person commented on Instagram, referencing Bill Gates' recent admission of his multiple affairs.

"She looks just like her dad," added one user on Instagram. "Apparently shares the same values. The exact type of person who grifts!"

"Oh look, a lying, cheating nepo baby," commented one person. "Wonder who she learned that from?"

"I am so sick of these entitled nepo babies," a final user posted. "I'm glad she got caught in her lies!"
